2010 EWGA-NNJ League Coordinators - Click this ilnk to download list

Inclement Weather Policy:

Call the golf course after 3:30 p.m. (for 9-hole leagues) to inquire whether league play will occur on that day.  Course phone numbers are listed on the League Policies page. For 18-hole leagues, speak with your coordinator to see how they want to handle it.  Generally, all league cancellations are rescheduled after the regular league season ends.

All players must read and abide by the League Policies.

We are pleased to offer current NNJ chapter members the opportunity to register for 2010 EWGA-NNJ league play. You must be a member in good standing for 2010 to participate in our leagues so please renew before your current membership expiration date. All of our courses and times are confirmed.

Registration requires full payment for each 9 hole league requested and a deposit for 18 hole leagues. Final payment for the 18 hole leagues will be required prior to start of play.

Requests are processed on a first come, first reserved basis.  Please identify a 1st and 2nd choice, if you have one, for each request. We will do our best to honor your request.  Simply completing the form with payment does not guarantee your spot in that league due to golfer limits.  You will receive confirmation within 2 weeks of our receipt.

If registering online, you will know the status immediately.  You will receive a confirmation to your email address after completing the process.  NOTE:  EWGA-NNJ reserves the right to determine if a player’s ability matches the level of the league selected.

Please complete a separate registration form for each league you wish to play in.  This allows us to more accurately process all of the information.

Each league has at least one coordinator.  The coordinator volunteers her time and receives no compensation at all.  Please treat her with respect as it is her job to ensure everyone has a quality golf experience.

COSTS

Our league prices for 2010 continue to include a one time $30 administration fee to support league administration expenses.

All fees are for walking only, except as specially noted.  Electric carts and pull carts may be rented. Our 9-hole league price is calculated by multiplying the greens fee per night by the number of weeks played plus the $30 fee. For 18-hole leagues, the price is the greens fees for the course plus a cart, if required, and the $30 fee.

2010 SUBSTITUTE PROGRAM

We maintain an online listing of league members and league substitutes.  A substitute is expected to reimburse you when they take your place.

Members who can’t play full time in a league are encouraged to sign up as a substitute player for the $30 League Fee. As a full time league player, you are able to list yourself as a substitute player in any league that matches your level of golf.

Please review the descriptions of levels below and register for the appropriate league for your level of play.  Subs must be intermediate golfers to play at Sunset Valley and Paramus Monday nights.

LEAGUE DESCRIPTIONS

Double Par Rule:  All leagues use the double par rule to assist in keeping pace of play.  Therefore, kindly pick up after you have hit the ball two times par, e.g. a 6 on a par 3.  This can be a combination of shots, for example, move the ball closer to the green after taking several shots in the fairway and chip and putt.

NOVICE - A novice golfer usually reaches the green of a par 3 in 4, the green of a par 4 in 6 and the green of a par 5 in 8.

For members who have already participated in our beginner leagues or possess basic golf skills including swing mechanics, short game, putting and knowledge of golf rules and etiquette.  Novices must be comfortable on a regulation golf course and use the rule of double par.

GENERAL - A general level golfer usually reaches the green of a par 3 in 3, the green of a par 4 in 5 and the green of a par 5 in 7.

For members with at least three years of golf course experience usually scoring less than 130 for an 18 hole round and 65 for a 9 hole round. The golfer feels comfortable on the golf course and has good knowledge and understanding of golf rules and etiquette and is able to maintain pace of play.

GENERAL/INTERMEDIATE - This category of golfer should be a little better then the general level golfer or is working towards a handicap and is not yet at the intermediate golf level.

For very experienced golfers and intermediate golfers, not playing in an intermediate league.  The courses are challenging and require solid golf skills.  Some games and competitions are planned.  Players have good knowledge and understanding of golf rules and etiquette and are able to maintain pace of play.  These leagues are not suited for the newer golfer.

INTERMEDIATE - For members with a handicap less than 36.

A USGA Handicap is required for participation in an intermediate league and must be established by the middle of the season. These leagues include some golf games and team competitions.  Players are introduced to competitive play in a friendly environment.  Players have good knowledge and understanding of golf rules and etiquette and are able to maintain pace of play.

ADVANCED - For members with an established handicap of 26 or less and consistently score under 105 for 18 holes.

These leagues are for the more competitive golfer playing either in team, partner and or individual formats.  USGA Handicap required.
